I am an Aquatic Contractor by day. In 1988 I started the company, Aquatic Art Unlimited. We design, build, and maintain aquarium, ponds, and fountains, serving both residential and commercial clients. You can see more about that at
In 2017 we took a fantastic family vacation to Washington State. In the age of convenience, all I brought to take pictures and document our trip was a Cannon point and shoot camera and our cell phones. When we got home and started to print the pictures and make a photo book, I was extremely disappointed. For our next family road trip, I purchased a Cannon T6i. Set it to auto and presto, I’m a photographer, or so I thought. Home from our trip, and again, disappointed in the photos. Then I tried shooting my son playing ice hockey, most photos were pretty pathetic, but every now and then, there were some really good ones. After seeing those good shots, I wanted better, I needed better, but where to start.
I started taking online photography courses and classes. Practicing every day. I was shooting anything and everything. I was getting pretty good with the Cannon, but it wasn’t enough. I needed to upgrade my equipment. After countless hours of research and renting different cameras and lenses, I made the jump to a mirrorless system and got the Sony a7iii. That combined with investing in professonal lenses, I was able to ramp up my game and produce quality work.
I am now shooting sports, nature, and wildlife. Most of my wildlife shots are taken while paddling different lakes and rivers with my wife in our kayaks. I lug my equipment on our hikes for landscape shots. If you see me in a hockey rink, I’m either coaching or photographing. My sports photos have been used in High School Yearbooks, slide shows, promotional material, and banners.
I am available for hire to shoot sports for clubs, teams, or parents. Drop me an email for more information.
